Junior Timeline
Fall
- Explore interests in subjects, colleges, and careers
- Consider career options and investigate the type of education that is needed
- Take the ASVAB exam (available to all Milaca Juniors- required for military entrance)
- Attend Central MN Education Fair
- Take the PSAT exam (recommended to students in top 1/3 of class)
- Collect and organize college brochures, view books, and program information
- Attend meetings with college and/or military representatives in the Student Services Office (see link on left)
- Check out the MCIS website for college and career information
Winter
- Check ACT and SAT registration deadlines
- Investigate requirements for admission to colleges that you are interested in
- Register for senior year classes and check graduation requirements for high school
- Consider job shadowing in your career area of interest
Spring
- Make contact with colleges to schedule summer visits
- Take ACT (April and/or June) and/or SAT (the ACT will be offered at Milaca High School in the Spring)
- Line up summer job to save money for college
- Continue to narrow down college selections
Summer
- Visit at least two or three colleges to make comparisons
- Get reference letters from summer jobs or special activities
