Pamela Chawla

After graduating from Milaca High School in 1987, Chawla obtained a bachelor of arts degree in Chemistry and Biology at St. Olaf College. She then attended medical school at the University of Minnesota and received her Doctorate of Medicine. Chawla completed her pediatric residency and chief residency at Minnesota and was elected Resident Physician Teacher of the Year by the medical students.

She was a hospitalist as Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA, when this new subspecialty in pediatric medicine was evolving. Chawla returned to Minnesota in 2001 and has been at Children’s Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota since then.

Chawla’s areas of expertise are care of hospitalized patients and care/coordination of special needs patients. She has served as a member of the board of directors at Children’s, is a member of the Peer Review Process, secretarytreasurer, vice chief of staff, chief of staff and now is the immediate past chief of staff at Children’s.

Chawla has received the Attending Physician Teacher of the Year award from resident physicians and was elected to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine’s Top Doctors in nine of the last 10 years. Chawla participates in Children’s advocacy and advertising through public service announcements in print, radio and television.
