Sheila Peterson

As a senior in 1982, Peterson led Milaca High School’s girls golf team to the Class AA state championship. She was the Class AA state medalist that year and she helped Milaca win many tournament, conference and region titles during her prep golf career. Peterson played golf at the University of Hawaii and the University of Arizona.

She began her professional golf career in 1984 as an assistant PGA golf pro at the Pinnacle Peak Country Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. She was a golf instructor for several years and later played on a mini tour. In 2004 she was chosen to be the Director of Golf at the Futures Course in Arizona. Peterson directs a free junior golf program each summer for hundreds of junior golfers. In 2005, she was chosen among her peers for the Southwest Section PGA Junior Golf Leader of the Year award.

Peterson continues to be a committee member of the Southwest Section Foundation, is on the President’s Council and volunteers for numerous junior golf events. Her motto when playing and teaching is “keep it simple.”
