Welcome to Elementary Art!

The purpose of the art classes at Milaca Elementary School are to increase students' knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of art, artists, and the cultures from which they come. The goal is not to turn students into artists but to help them discover the artist within, learn to express themselves through their artwork, and increase their awareness of art in their environment.

The Art program emphasizes a balance of 2-D and 3-D media opportunities. Areas of study include drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, and design. We use a discipline based approach to our art lessons and include the elements and principles of design, art history, and art criticism in all lesson plans.
