David Hubers
A 1961 Milaca High School graduate, Hubers earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in business from the University of Minnesota. Hubers began his career with American Express in 1965 and served in three major areas of the company - investments, finance and new business development. He held positions as vice president of corporate strategy and development and director of the investment research group.
Hubers retired as president and chief executive officer of American Express Financial Advisors in July, 2000. He served a senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer from 1982 until he was named CEO in 1993.
Hubers serves on the board of directors of the Carlson School of Management at the U of M, Chronimed, Fairview Hospitals (Minneapolis), Lawson Software, the United Way, and the National Council on Economic Education. He chaired the 2001 United Way Campaign in Minneapolis.
In 1998, Hubers received the Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award from the University of Minnesota.
