Karen Reineke
After graduating from Milaca High School in 1931 and earning a teaching degree, Karen Sorenson taught school in Princeton from 1932-1935. She taught school in Milaca between 1938 and 1939.
She worked as bailiff at the Mille Lacs County Courthouse for many years and was active in the Milaca Civic Club for 50 years.
As a director of Forest Hill Cemetery Board for 38 years, Karen served 16 years as its president. She was publicity chairman of the Milaca Hospital Executive Board.
Karen devoted 50 years of continuous service to the Mille Lacs County Chapter of the American Red Cross and served on the Milaca Planning Commission. She was a member of Mille Lacs County Women’s Civil Defense Council, author of county and cemetery histories and was recognized by Governor Rudy Perpich with a commendation in 1989 for her work with Mille Lacs County Emergency Services.
Karen and her husband Charles promoted, furnished and maintained both North Park and Harmony Park for nearly 60 years. The city honored Karen and Charles by changing the name of North Park to Reineke Park in 1985.
Karen died April 12, 1996
