Jacob graduated from Milaca High School in the Class of 2002, summa cum laude.
High school honors include State Storytelling Champion in 2002, Yearbook Senior
Editor, and Honors in Drama, Speech, and Mock Trial. Jake also self-published a novel
at 18 years old.
Jake attended St. John's University (Collegeville) and graduated in the Class of 2006
with a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Communications minor, magna cum laude.
In college, Jake received All College Honors and a distinction in English.
He then attended the University of Notre Dame Law School, JD, 2009. He graduated
Cum Laude and earned Dean's List recognition, he continued his writing career as an
Articles Editor for the Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics, and Public Policy.
Jake’s love for the outdoors and time with family brought his career to the Colorado
mountains. He first served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Dennis Graham on the
Colorado Court of Appeals. He then served as a Deputy District Attorney in Arapahoe
County, Colorado. He entered private practice as an Associate with Taylor-Anderson
LLP, and then returned to government work as an Assistant Regulation Counsel with
the Colorado Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel. Jake’s legal experience has
spanned everything from criminal prosecutions, to defending the Aurora, Colorado
movie theater in civil suits arising out of the Aurora theater shooting, to prosecuting
ethics cases against attorneys. His recent ethics cases have involved those against
elected District Attorneys.

Jake has spent time volunteering as a Mock Trial Coach, as a Mentor in the Colorado
Attorney Mentoring Program, and as a Director for the Colorado River Surfing
Association.
Jake currently lives in Colorado with his wife and daughters. When he's not practicing
law, he can often be found rafting or skiing somewhere in the high mountains.
