Herb G. Claffy
Claffy was Milaca High School Football Coach for 23 seasons. His teams compiled a record of 132-59-5 and were always at or near the top of the Rum River Conference. Claffy was also Milaca Athletic Director for 37 years, track coach for 19 years and baseball coach for 2 years. Herb taught physical education, health, driver’s training and biology and coached for many summer baseball programs including Legion baseball. He is a member of the Minnesota Coaches Hall of Fame and the Minnesota Football Coaches Hall of Fame. Claffy is a longtime member of the Milaca American Legion and served as Post Commander for two years. He is a charter member of the Dollars for Scholars and Ultra Golf Tournament committees. Milaca’s football field bears his name - Claffy Field.
