Harold P. Pluimer
After graduating from Milaca High School in 1938, Pluimer earned degrees at St. Cloud State College and the University of Minnesota. He was communications aide with General Douglas MacArthur aboard the USS Missouri where Japan signed surrender documents ending World War II. Pluimer served with the 24th Infantry Division in the Korean War, leaving as a Major. He worked at the Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies and for the U.S. Department of State and NBC TV at the Brussels World Fair in 1958. He presented 13 TV programs entitled “The Atom Story” and eight TV programs on the “Exploration of Space.” Harold was Science Consultant for the Minnesota Department of Education for six years. He was an author, speaker, consultant and renowned “futurist.
